Renewable Diesel, otherwise known as HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a drop-in diesel alternative that offers a cleaner way to fuel your commercial fleets, with 90% lower net greenhouse gas emissions to help your business on the road to a greener future.

What is Renewable Diesel?

Renewable Diesel Oil Droplet

Renewable Diesel is a paraffinic diesel fuel that can be used as a drop-in replacement for both red and white diesel. It offers superior operational and environmental performance over fossil diesel with vast environmental benefits.

What is Renewable Diesel Made From?

Renewable Diesel is synthesised from 99.9% renewable raw materials such as vegetable oils, animal oils and fats, reducing your net CO2 greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%.

Renewable Diesel uses a hydrogen-based production process, which results in a paraffinic diesel product with low aromatic and naphthenic hydrocarbon content with no sulphur. With zero FAME content, Renewable Diesel doesn’t face the instability and operability issues that many mineral diesels and biofuels face.

Why Use Renewable Diesel?

Running your business on Renewable Diesel offers significant advantages. It serves as a direct, drop-in alternative to traditional diesel, which means it can be stored in the same fuel tank and used just like white and red diesel. This eliminates the need to purchase new vehicles or machinery, making the switch straightforward and cost-effective while substantially improving your carbon footprint.

For businesses that rely on diesel, Renewable Diesel presents an excellent opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%. It provides a fast and easy step towards achieving “net zero” emissions, as opposed to the larger commitment required for full electrification.

This greener diesel alternative is particularly well-suited for large commercial fleets, making it ideal for a variety of on and off-road vehicles across industries such as construction, agriculture, road and rail transport, haulage, marine, and the public sector.

The Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme

Zemp Partnership Logo

Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme Logo

The Zemo Partnership is an independent, non-profit organisation working with the government and members to help accelerate the move to zero emissions.

It manages the Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme (RFAS), which analyses the complete renewable fuel supply chain from feedstock cultivation or waste raw material collection to production and distribution of the final product.

The RFAS independently verifies claims made by companies supplying renewable fuels. The creation of RFAS aims to provide vehicle fleet operators in the UK with an independent way to verify the greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability of feedstocks in high blend renewable fuels.

We are a certified Renewable Diesel supplier under the ZEMO partnership, which means we can provide declaration certificates for every order of Renewable Diesel you purchase from us.
