Latest transport review to reform travel in cities and towns across the UK

The UK Government has announced its “biggest review into transport in a generation” with the aim to transform the way people and goods move around our cities and towns. It is hoped that the review will identify ways the transport sector can utilise innovation in engineering, technology and business models to reduce emissions and improve travel across the country.

A main focus of the review will be to analyse the prospect of using new types of vehicles such as e-scooters and e-cargo bike trailers within towns and cities. Alongside a £90 million competition to create up to four new ‘future mobility zones’ around the country. These zones will provide a place to test ideas on improving travel including; better payment systems, clearer travel information and new technology.

The Government hopes that the ‘Future of mobility: Urban strategy’ will ultimately make travel more convenient, reliable and cheaper in UK towns and cities.
