Its time for a Spring service!

With Spring just around the corner now is the time to service your farming machinery to ensure it works when you need it the most. For machinery you can rely on there are some key areas to focus on.

Engine Oil Changes

Regular oil changes help to prolong the life of your engine and protect it against premature wear. Over time engine oil can accumulate fine particles of metal which gather in the reservoir, if left these pieces can cause damage to the engine’s components over time.

Transmission Oil

Gearbox and hydraulic oils should also be regularly replaced along with any filters.

Clean Air Filter

The clean air filter is essential for protecting your vehicle by stopping dirt and other particles from being sucked into the engine. The air filter should be regularly changed to ensure its effectiveness.

Radiator/ Coolant

The engine’s cooling system protects it from damage caused by the heat generated when in use. Overtime coolant can deteriorate so it needs to be replaced regularly as part of your vehicle’s service.

Lubrication

To protect against wear ensure that all grease nipples on your tractor are adequately lubricated. Using a grease gun, add fresh grease until it starts to seep out - this is the best indication that there is a sufficient amount of grease.

General Checks

Once you have checked all of the essential aspects of your vehicle, examine the seals and hoses for any signs of leakage. Seals and hoses may need to be occasionally replaced so try to check them whenever you can.
