Coldest End To Winter in 5 Years

An Arctic blast of freezing air in Siberia will arrive in the UK from Sunday night in what is predicted to be the coldest end to the British winter in 5 years, bringing with it predicted significant and disruptive snow.

It has been predicted that some areas will see lows of up to -8c and potential for heavy, disruptive snow fall around Monday and Tuesday, due to an unusual kink in the jet stream causing an extension of freezing air across Northern Europe and Western Siberia.

The Department of Public Health England recommends that the elderly, disabled and ill ensure their homes are heated to at least 18c, have plenty of provisions in the house and wrapped up warm should they need to risk the outdoors over the next week.
